Rediscover your body’s natural movement

Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilisation (DNS) is an innovative approach to movement rehabilitation, designed to restore your body’s natural movement patterns and improve overall physical function. Developed by Prof. Pavel Kolar at the Prague School of Rehabilitation and grounded in the research of world-renowned neurologists, DNS focuses on the crucial relationship between the nervous system and movement control. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or aiming to enhance athletic performance, DNS offers a tailored solution to help you move more efficiently, reduce pain, and achieve your physical goals.

Understanding DNS

DNS is rooted in the concept that our nervous system establishes essential motor control programs during the early years of life. These programs dictate how we move, stand, and walk. By reactivating these innate movement patterns, DNS helps restore the body’s natural ability to move efficiently and pain-free. This approach goes beyond traditional exercise methods, focusing on the subconscious control of core stabilisation and the integration of breathing patterns, making it a highly effective tool for rehabilitation and performance enhancement.

The foundation of movement control

Efficient movement is vital for maintaining overall physical health. When your muscles work together in harmony - at the right time, with the correct intensity - you not only reduce the risk of injury but also optimise your performance in everyday activities and athletic pursuits. DNS emphasises the importance of trunk stabilisation, or "core stability," which supports proper posture and movement by ensuring that deep core muscles, including the diaphragm and pelvic floor, are activated and coordinated with your breathing. This automatic, second-nature stabilisation is crucial for maintaining alignment, reducing joint wear-and-tear, and enhancing overall movement efficiency.

Benefits of DNS

Enhanced movement efficiency

DNS helps restore your body’s natural movement patterns, leading to more efficient and coordinated movements. By reactivating the brain's motor control centres, DNS ensures that your muscles work in the way they were designed to, reducing the risk of injury and improving overall mobility.

Core stabilisation and posture improvement

Through targeted exercises, DNS strengthens your core and enhances postural stability. This not only alleviates pain and discomfort but also supports long-term spinal health, allowing you to move with greater ease and confidence in daily activities.

Optimised athletic performance

For athletes, DNS offers a significant edge by refining motor control and enhancing biomechanical efficiency. By stabilising and fine-tuning movement patterns, DNS helps athletes achieve peak performance, reduce injury risk, and recover more effectively, translating to better results in training and competition.

Holistic rehabilitation and pain relief

DNS is an effective tool in rehabilitation, addressing the root causes of musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction. By focusing on restoring natural movement patterns, DNS promotes healing and provides long-lasting relief, helping you return to your normal activities with improved function and comfort.

Who is DNS for?

DNS is for anyone looking to improve their movement quality, whether you are recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or simply aiming to enhance your physical performance. DNS is particularly beneficial for athletes seeking to optimise their biomechanics and reduce the risk of injury, as well as for individuals dealing with postural issues or those wanting to improve their overall mobility and stability.

Whether you are a seasoned athlete, a fitness enthusiast, or someone in need of rehabilitation, DNS offers a tailored approach to help you move better, feel better, and perform at your best.

Get Started

A one-on-one initial session is where we work together to lay down the foundation for your DNS journey. This session introduces you to the fundamental DNS stability exercises. We currently offer DNS sessions at a variety of Waikato-based locations.

Following your initial session, you can continue your progress with follow-up sessions, available both as individual appointments or in group settings, tailored to suit your specific needs and goals.
